Roam is island-owned scooters, tuktuks and cars, delivered to travellers who'd rather ride than queue at a rental desk. We started it because renting a bike on Siquijor usually meant handing your passport to a stranger. It shouldn't. So here's exactly how Roam works instead.
How it works
Reserve online
Pick a ride and your dates, then pay a small reservation fee by card to lock it in. That fee is the only thing charged online. It comes off the total.
Verify + sign
Upload your driver's licence and read and sign the owner's rental contract, right in the app. Clear terms up front, not insurance fine print.
We deliver, you pay the rest
Your host brings the bike to your hotel or the port, fuelled and checked. You pay the balance in cash at handover, never your passport.
Ride the island
Waterfalls, the coast road, the whole rock. We're a message away the entire trip, and a partner mechanic is on call.
Who runs Roam
Two people, and it is worth knowing which is which. Roam is not a rental chain and there is no counter to complain at, so the honest version is that when something goes wrong on your trip, one of these two is who fixes it.

Founder
Mike built Roam and runs everything off the island: the platform, the payments, the owner contracts and the vetting. Fifteen years in video and web before he moved into building software. His wife is Filipina, their kids are half-Filipino, and the family spends part of every year in the Philippines. Roam came out of being a traveller there, not out of a business plan.
Buman
Island Lead · Siquijor
Buman is Roam on the ground, and the reason a listing here can be trusted. He goes out to the owner's barangay, meets them face to face, checks the vehicle and photographs it properly before it is allowed to go live. He is also who riders and owners reach when something needs sorting on the island itself.
The split matters in practice. Every vehicle listed here has been seen in person by Buman before a rider can book it, which is the part of this that cannot be done from a laptop. The vehicles themselves are not ours: they belong to people who live on Siquijor, and Roam takes a cut of the booking rather than owning a fleet. Two people and no call centre is the trade. It means you are dealing with someone who is accountable, and it means we would rather grow slowly than list a bike nobody has stood next to.
Why it's safe
No passport held. Ever.
Your booking is held by the card reservation and the contract you signed, there's nothing to leave at a counter.
A real contract, not fine print
Every ride runs on the owner's own rental terms. You read and sign them before you pay, so there are no surprises at handover.
Your host has skin in the game
The owner keeps the bulk of the price in cash at delivery, so they show up on time with a bike that's ready.
